Our story

We've grown since we started,
but the vision we began with remains.

History

Allen, Gibbs & Houlik, L.C.'s roots were planted in the central U.S. more than 75 years ago through our predecessor firm. A strong emphasis on both technical excellence and client service brought steady growth to the firm over the years, leading to a 15-year affiliation with a national CPA firm. In 1987, six entrepreneurial partners recognized an opportunity to combine the highly skilled accounting and consulting professionals and the specialized services available within a larger firm with the relationship-building focus of a smaller, independently owned organization; this formed the basis of AGH today.

Since then, AGH has grown into one of the largest CPA and advisory firms in the central U.S. While the firm's tax and audit services remain traditional strengths, AGH leadership has created numerous new services and products based on identified client needs. An entrepreneurial, innovative approach to creating business solutions for clients characterizes AGH. The result: a firm that's increased client service activities fivefold since 1987 through broadening our client base, rather than by acquiring or merging with other firms.

Global reach

AGH is based in the central U.S., but the firm's reach and the access to expertise offered to its clients is global. Although AGH is independently held, the firm can leverage its services on behalf of clients through its membership in PrimeGlobal.

PrimeGlobal is one of the top five largest associations of independent accounting firms in the world; as of July 2018, the association was comprised of approximately 300 highly successful independent public accounting firms in 81 countries. PrimeGlobal provides its independent member firms with tools and resources to help them furnish superior accounting, auditing, tax and management services to clients around the globe. Through PrimeGlobal, independent member firms offer the strength and capabilities of a large, worldwide organization with technical depth and geographic reach impossible for a local firm alone.
